The Healthcare Debate in the U.S.

One has feeling that President Barack Obama had to rush into the stormy waters of healthcare reform in spite of informed warnings, because he was aware that Senator Ted Kennedy was on the way out of the world. The President apparently wanted to please the man who stuck his neck out to endorse him when others wouldn't have dared. There is no doubt that the early endorsement by Senator Kennedy smoothened the way and torpedoed the Clinton political machine. How else could President Obama have paid back such kindness than to take the political risk of going into healthcare reform, an aspect which Senator Kennedy devoted his entire life to. The affable senator was paid back in his lifetime.
